Moon Phases
Here's a sneak preview of what we will do in science this week! In addition to talking about the Sun and planets, we will talk about moon phases and the relationship between the rotation of the moon around the Earth and how that relates to a day. To help students understand this, they will be working with partners to create a yummy visual!

Field Trip-September 26th
All three second grade classes will be going on a field trip on Friday, September 26th. We will be going to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis from 8:30 to 2:30. Please make sure your child is here promptly at 8 on the morning of the 26th, as we will be boarding the buses at 8:15 after attendance and announcements, and heading out by 8:30. A limited number of chaperones may come with us, so if you are interested, be sure to indicate it on the permission slip your child will be bringing home in his or her folder. The cost for each child is $8, so make sure you send this money in with the permission slip as well. A packed lunch in a paper or plastic sack is also required, as we will eat our lunches in a facility provided by the museum. (Please make sure your child's lunch and lunch bag is disposable, so we can throw everything away by the end of lunch.) The main exhibits students are required to see are the ScienceWorks exhibit and The Power of Children. In the ScienceWorks exhibit, students can explore "Nature's Backyard" and hands-on activities that will finish up our unit on camping and the outdoors. The Power of Children is an exhibit we want our students to see to supplement our study of character education. Students may see any other exhibits of interest during the time we are there, as long as they visit the two required exhibits.
